Wayne BowenUnleashing the Potential in Every Student
BY WAYNE BOWEN, PH.D., INTERIM ASSOCIATE DEAN, COLLEGE OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES

It feels like we’re in the “Groundhog Day” movie. We published last month’s newsletter right after Hurricane Ian. Now it’s Hurricane Nicole. Our GEP work forges ahead. We’ve held a successful Fall Town Hall meeting, continued adding resources to the GEP Faculty Learning Community, and worked to prepare our course assessments due on Friday.
Integrating the GEP Foundations and Learning Outcomes across the curriculum is a team effort. Amy, Annabelle, and I want to thank you for your partnership. We hope you enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving break.

If you have topics for future newsletters, please email to GEP@ucf.edu.

Visit the General Education Faculty Learning Community for instructions on how to assess a course. Please let me know if you need assistance incorporating Learning Outcomes into a course using the rubric or SpeedGrader.

If you have any questions, please email me or the GEP mailbox.

BY WAYNE BOWEN, PH.D.

GEP faculty assembled on October 17 in the Student Union for the Fall 2022 Town Hall meeting. Over Jimmy John’s lunches, 26 participants representing more than a dozen academic departments discussed assessment and professional development opportunities and engaged in group discussions on the value of general education.
GEP Faculty Fellows Amy Darty and Annabelle Conroy answered questions about the assessment process and addressed specific concerns and challenges. It was a joy to spend time with a small group of dedicated faculty and discuss how we can continue to strength UCF’s General Education Program.
