UCF undergraduate students are invited take part in a voluntary research study. To receive a book scholarship, you must be selected to participate and complete all requirements,
Before you decide to take part, it’s important to understand why the research is being conducted and what it will involve. To help you make an informed decision, the following are the key details of the study.
The purpose of this research is to gather insights from UCF undergraduate students regarding their experiences with the General Education Program (GEP). Your feedback will help assess the strengths of the program, identify areas for improvement, and enhance the academic experience for future students.
- Eligibility:
- All participants must be 18 years of age or older.
- You must be a current UCF undergraduate student and have taken at least 50 percent of your General Education Program courses at UCF in the past 10 years. (If you are unsure, please apply. We will review your transcript to confirm if you qualify.)
- You must have completed at least 30 credit hours.
- Time Commitment: Complete a prequalification survey that should take no more than 10 minutes. The focus group will be 90 minutes.
- Focus Groups: Participate in one focus group.
- In-Person Focus Group: Wednesday, Jan. 29, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., UCF main campus. Pizza will be served.
- Virtual Focus Group: Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2-3:30 p.m., via Zoom.
- Recordings: You may be audio- or video-recorded during this study. If you do not wish to be recorded, you will not be able to participate.
- Incentive: Students who complete both the survey and attend an in-person or virtual focus group will earn a $25 book scholarship in accordance with UCF Financial Aid guidelines.
- Data Collection and Use
- All data collected during the study will remain confidential. Information shared during focus groups will be anonymous, and no identifying details will be included in any reports or publications.
- Efforts will be made to limit the use and disclosure of students’ personal information to the research team who have a need to review this information. We cannot promise complete secrecy. UCF’s College of Undergraduate Studies may review the student information to qualify the student to take part in the research. Identifiers, including but not limited to student names, student IDs, age, gender, ethnicity, and UCF email addresses, will be collected on the Qualtrics pre-survey to ensure qualifications and award compensation.
- All data and information will be stored in a password-protected UCF CUGS Teams folder. Only the approved research team and Interim Dean of the College of Undergraduate Studies will have access to student data and information. All data and information will be stored for five years after study closure per Florida law.
