The College of Undergraduate Studies (CUGS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Robin M. Back, Ph.D., as Assistant Dean for Academic Policy. Dr. Back is a tenured Associate Professor in the Rosen College of Hospitality Management. As Assistant Dean, he will be key in developing, evaluating, and implementing universitywide policies and practices, including grade appeals and dual enrollment.
Before joining CUGS, Dr. Back served as the Interim Chair for the Department of Foodservice and Lodging Management. He has more than 35 years of experience in higher education and hospitality and tourism management and is an elected Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality.
Dr. Back is an accomplished scholar. He holds a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Massachusetts, a Master’s degree in International Hotel Management from the University of Surrey, a Bachelor’s degree in Institutional Management from London Metropolitan University, and a Certificate in Internet Technologies from New York University.
His research interests include Consumer Behavior and Marketing, with a primary focus on the Wine Industry. He has authored journal articles and serves on editorial boards for several top academic journals in his field. He has also presented research papers at many international conferences.
