On November 6, 2023, Dr. Theodorea Regina Berry, Vice Provost and Dean of the College of Undergraduate Studies, was the featured speaker at a meeting of the Daytime Bookworms, a book club that is part of the Women’s Club at UCF.
The group discussed The Nickel Boys, a 2019 novel by American novelist Colson Whitehead. The events of the book were based on the historic Dozier School, a reform school in Florida that operated for 111 years and was revealed as highly abusive.
