GEP & Curriculum Alignment

The UCF GEP and its partner institutions provide the essential foundation for majors and minors across campus, for our incoming freshman and transfer students preparing for their UCF experience. By working with our Direct Connect state colleges, the UCF GEP is aligning the needs of higher academia from inception of collegiate coursework through acceptance into a major.

Presently serving 11 different GEP core disciplines, the Curriculum Alignment team at UCF is poised to expand its alignment development to new areas of the GEP Foundations. Look for opportunities in the next year to jump on board and serve.

Not sure where you can help or curious to learn more about the benefits of GEP alignment collaboration? Start by attending the 2024 Transfer Student Success Partnership Conference on March 8, focused on Bridging Curriculum and Transfer Readiness. It will be held at the Special Events Center at Valencia College – West Campus. The new, free event combines the College Access Summit and the Curriculum Alignment Conference. It is an opportunity for academic leaders, faculty members, and academic advisors and coaches from UCF, DirectConnect to UCF® institutions, Florida College System, State University System of Florida, and Central Florida public school systems to share best practices, attend presentations, and promote curriculum alignment efforts. Serving & the GEP: Engaging Military & Veteran Students in Foundational Courses

Did you know?

  • UCF is the #3 largest provider of education to the military and is a Purple Heart University Campus
  • 60% of our UCF students are either military (38%) or military family connected. This means you are likely teaching students in your courses who have served or are related to military personnel.
  • While most veteran students can receive transferred military course credits, they currently do not earn GEP credits for their training or coursework from their time preparing or serving in the military. This means they may have leadership, work experience or knowledge more advanced than a typical student entering your GEP courses but need support to translate their skills and succeed in an academic environment.

Learn more at the Office of Military & Veteran Student Success to see how you can better serve and benefit from these individuals in your classes. Director Mike Kepner would love to talk to you about how our integrative GEP can rise to challenges and create opportunities.
