The GIS certificate program focuses on developing students’ basic understanding and specific applications of GIS in a variety of contexts. This certificate is only available to students with a 2017 or more recent catalog year.
Service-Learning Certificate
The certificate program in Service-Learning is designed for students in any discipline who seek to engage in a reflective analysis of community service as it relates to academic course work. Service-Learning furthers the learning objectives of the academic course, addresses community needs, and requires students to reflect on their activity in order to gain an appreciation for the relationship between civics and academics. Through Service-Learning (SL) courses, students develop academic skills, civic responsibility, and career opportunities. Since this certificate requires the completion of four SL courses, it reflects significant interest and commitment to this process. This certificate is open to all undergraduate and graduate students in any major.
Diversity Studies Leadership Certificate
This certificate is an interdisciplinary academic program intended to provide students with a foundational understanding of issues surrounding diversity and inclusion with a focus on the core themes of religion and spiritual traditions, race and ethnicities, gender and sexuality, and age and abilities. Students with an interest in international studies, as well as careers in business, communications, economics, education, environmental science, history, and politics, are invited to consider this certificate as a supplement to their major.
