UCF alumni Chris Castro (IDS ’10) and Brittany Sellers are transforming Orlando into a more environmentally friendly city. One of their many ongoing projects is at city hall, where they’re replacing the building’s technology with energy efficient technology. During his time at college, Castro started IDEAS for UCF, a student organization that focuses on making the campus more sustainable. He joined Mayor Buddy Dyer’s sustainability department in 2014 and started working on the Green Works initiative. Castro’s passion for sustainability runs deep. “Sustainability is about changing that mindset to get people looking at people, planet and prosperity. It’s about the triple-bottom line: social, economic and environment,” he said.
