Assessing the GEP is an essential component of UCF’s accreditation process. Faculty members teaching GEP classes in Session 1 of the the fall 2024 semester must create an assignment to measure at least one foundation learning outcome each semester. If you are unsure which foundation your course belongs to, please see the General Education Faculty Learning Community Webcourse.
Here’s what you need to know about GEP assessment:
Measure the assignment in any format (e.g., quiz, presentation, essay, or project). You must use the GEP rubric.
For more information on attaching the GEP rubric, please visit the General Education Faculty Learning Community course. The “Assessing the GEP at UCF” module contains step-by-step guides and video tutorials, including the “New Quizzes” tool.
Faculty members teaching courses in Session 1 (August 19 – December 7) must submit their assessment by November 1, the term’s withdrawal deadline.
Courses assessments only applies to the 16-week fall and spring semester. Fall and spring eight-week terms (Sessions F and G), Winter Intersession, Maymester, and summer sessions are not part of the current assessment process.
Use Version Two of the rubric.
There are five categories (4, 3, 2, 1, 0 or Exemplary, Outstanding, Competent, Developing, and No data/Unsatisfactory). The rubric with three categories is out of date.
Attend a Drop-In Session.
Get help creating your assessment.
The GEP team will host several virtual drop-in sessions to help you set up your GEP assessment. Please drop in at any time during those sessions.
Provide data for UCF’s accreditation process.
It is the last year for data collection for the upcoming program accreditation process. All GEP faculty must submit their assessment results.
Help revise the GEP assessment process.
In 2025, we will start a new accreditation cycle and revise our assessment process. We are inviting faculty to join the GEP Assessment Task Force. This group will envision a new assessment process and develop future strategies. If you are interested in joining, please let me know.
If you have any questions, please email Annabelle Conroy or GEP.
