Award Recipients Announced: Friday, Nov. 14
UCF’s General Education Program Professional Development Awards support faculty development by funding opportunities that enhance curriculum and advance student achievement. Seven professional development awards are available this fall to support faculty in enhancing their teaching and engaging in activities that improve student success in the GEP. Three awards of $1,000 and four awards of $500 will fund opportunities such as research, travel, workshops, conferences or other forms of academic engagement. These awards are designed to foster faculty growth and improve the quality of GEP courses by supporting activities that have a direct connection to course curriculum and student outcomes.
Strong proposals will clearly demonstrate how the professional development activity will lead to improvements in teaching practices and, ultimately, student success in GEP courses. Eligible activities include:
- Presenting research or creative work related to the GEP at a professional conference or similar event.
- Conducting research or professional activities directly tied to a GEP course or courses, with a focus on improving content or pedagogy.
- Developing a specific skill or competency relevant to teaching or enhancing GEP courses (such as new teaching methods, technology integration or inclusive practices).
- Participating in a conference or professional meeting that includes sessions, workshops or other events specifically related to GEP content or pedagogy.
Full-time faculty members (tenured, tenure-earning or non-tenure-earning), GEP fellows and GEP foundation area co-leads who are teaching at least a 25 percent GEP course load, including summer.
Applications should include a clear explanation of how the proposed activity will enhance teaching in GEP courses and its anticipated impact on student learning and success.
Please review the submission instructions and submit your application by Friday, Oct. 17.
