Thank you to those who applied for a GEP Award. The application pool was strong. After careful consideration, the review committee selected the 2023 GEP Award recipients. The winners are:

Joel Bergholtz, Ph.D., Lecturer, Writing and Rhetoric

Received funding to attend the Rhetoric Society Conference and promote student use of relevant research in GEP writing/expression in Composition 2 (ENC 1102).

Rachid Ait Maalem Lahcen, Ph.D., Associate Lecturer, Mathematics and GEP Problem Solving Foundation Co-Lead

Will use the award to present at the International Conference on Technology in Collegiate Mathematics Conference and develop a math transitions support module for student success in College Algebra and Calculus I.

Suzy Prentiss, Ph.D., Lecturer, Nicholson School of Communication and Media

Received funding to travel to and present at the National Communication Association for SPC 1608/SPC 1603 and to promote student success in oral and technical Communication, with specific focus on reducing speech anxiety, helping students overcome barriers, and supporting students with accommodations.

Tong Wan, Ph.D., Lecturer, Physics

Will use the award funds to advance her research for an Artificial Intelligence technology solution to address efficient grading and student feedback in all three GEP Core Physics courses and the potential for scale applications across GEP disciplines.
