An Informal Brown Bag Event for GEP Faculty
Date: September 19
Time: Noon-1 p.m.
NEW! Location: Trevor Colbourn Hall, Room 226
Bring a bag lunch – dessert and beverages will be provided!
We’re excited to introduce GEP Bites & Banter, a new brown bag event designed exclusively for GEP faculty. This isn’t your typical meeting—no agenda, no presentations, no formal directives. Just open, casual conversations with colleagues who share your passion for higher education and a commitment to improving the General Education Program for our students.
Who’s Invited?
Everyone teaching GEP courses—whether you’re a full professor, instructor/lecturer, adjunct, graduate student, or somewhere in between!
Why Should You Join Us?
- Cross-Disciplinary Connections: Meet faculty from other departments and discover potential collaborations.
- Re-Energize Your Teaching: Exchange ideas, strategies, and classroom experiences to inspire your own teaching.
- Problem-Solving Together: Bring up your teaching challenges and leave with fresh perspectives.
- Collaborate on Research: Explore new research ideas and partnerships with colleagues.
- Build Friendships: Enjoy casual conversations that could spark your next big idea!
THIS MONTH’S TOPIC: Engaging a Diverse Student Population
You can expect discussion questions like these to guide the conversation:
- What strategies have you found most effective in engaging students from diverse backgrounds?
- How do you adapt your teaching methods to accommodate varied learning styles?
- In what ways can we ensure that all voices are heard and valued in class discussions?
We hope this event will be the first of many and can’t wait to see where these conversations take us!
RSVPs encouraged but not required.
