Mission

The overall mission for the Office of Undergraduate Studies involves all of us--faculty, staff, and students. We aim to enhance the effectiveness of other units and faculty in their efforts to provide outstanding undergraduate education for students. We establish and administer universitywide academic policies and assist in curriculum development and review and in co-curricular planning and programming. We respond to queries and mandates by parties inside and outside the university and represent the university at local, regional, and national forums for undergraduate education.

When asked to describe US in one word, I use the term “facilitation.” Our goal is to facilitate the educational well-being of students and faculty through opportunities across the disciplines.  All disciplines are equally important to US, and we seek to involve all faculty and students in experiences that promote life-long learning: effective general education curriculum, research, scholarship, experiential learning, professional development, and much more.  We also seek innovative ways to connect UCF students and faculty with the Central Florida community and the greater academic world.

On a practical, day-to-day basis, these functions are carried out by:

  1. Directing the General Education Program
  2. Managing Academic Services
  3. Enabling all disciplines to pursue Undergraduate Research
  4. Overseeing opportunities to work with the community through Experiential and Service Learning
  5. Offering professional development for faculty and staff through the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning

And the list goes on. I hope this website will help inform you about the many efforts that the Office of Undergraduate Studies facilitates. Whether you are faculty, staff, or student, I encourage you to find out more about US!
